Sunday was Kyler’s actual birthday so after church we opened some presents. He requested waffles and sausage for his birthday dinner. After dinner we had the Petersen’s, Jones’s, and Owens over for cake and ice cream. A few days earlier I took Kyler to the grocery store and told him he could pick out any cake he wanted. His eyes got really big and he excitedly looked through the big book of cakes to decide which one he wanted. He finally decided he wanted this awesome orange flame cake with a motorcycle. He was so dang happy about this cake and told everyone he came in contact with about it. It was so adorable how much he loved this cake! I think that is one of my favorite things about my sweet Kyler, it is so easy to please him. Waffles and sausage for dinner? Done. Motorcycle cake? Done. After the cake the kiddos had a blast playing outside till their little faces were red.
A couple things about Kyler: He is the perfect combination of stubborn and sweet. He can be such a stinker but knows just how to melt mommy’s heart. He loves to snuggle. He is a picky eater, but loves all kinds of sweets. He is very self entertained and has an active imagination. He is a sassy pants. He is the king of random comments. He is such a sweet big brother to Jane and is always sharing his blanket with her and tucking her in with it. He is shy in public and when other people talk to him.
One super funny thing about Kyler lately is that he has a real/imaginary friend named Alex. Real in that he really does have a friend named Alex at preschool. But imaginary in that Kyler makes up a lot of really funny stories about Alex. For example, we will be eating hotdogs for dinner and Kyler will say “Guess what everyone? Alex is eating hot dogs RIGHT NOW for dinner too!” or “Alex told me today that they saw a shark at their beach house. and a dead man. and a spaceship” (Mmmmk…. that’s a lot to happen to someone in just one day. and they don’t have a beach house. Oh and we didn’t even see Alex this week). Or he makes up other absurd things about “Alex” that we know just simply can’t be true. We decided it’s because Kyler enjoys having something to say and it makes him feel important. It’s actually kind of cute. But we hear about “Alex” at least 20 times a day. Not sure how long this “Alex” will be with us, but I do love Kyler’s imagination. He is always the one to come up with great games for he and Max to play involving pirates, ninja firefighter pilots (it’s a thing), dragon robots, etc. Oh how we love you Kyler!! Happy Fourth Birthday my sweet boy.
