Random thoughts…

Every day I am amazed at how old my Max is getting!  Over the last three months since Ky was born, it has really made me feel like Max is so old.  I change his diaper now and think, “aren’t you too old for this?”  Even though I know he really isn’t.  But comparing him to a baby makes him seem like such a big boy.

Everyday he does funny little things, but by the time Jeremy gets home from work I have forgotten what he did that was so funny.  Weird.  Once upon a time I had a brain that worked.  Also, Once upon a time I had a clean house.  And I was able to clean all 3 bathrooms in one day.  Laundry used to get folded and put away on the same day it was washed.  And once upon a time my hair saw other styles besides a pony tail.  I say these things mostly joking.  While all of the above is true, I wouldn’t trade mommyhood for anything.  It is by far the best job in the whole world.

The last few days Max has really been blowing me away by the things he has learned to do.  The first thing is that he can almost count to ten in Chinese!  What the?  He can’t count in English, but since Kai-Lan does it in Chinese so can he.

When I tell him it is time for a nap or bedtime he grabs my hand and leads me up the stairs and into his bedroom.  He then bends down to turn on the fan we have in there that drowns out sound and walks over to his crib to let me put him in there.

The last few days when I have gotten him up in the morning, I tell him “wait for Mommy.  I need to get your clothes”  He responds “Nammies” and proceeds to pull out his favorite pair of PJ’s that have monkeys on them.  He gives his PJ’s a hug then asks “baby?”.  So we go to the next room and peek into baby Ky’s crib.  He is usually awake too so Max yells “HI!”.

He has been the pickiest little toddler ever when it comes to food.  Despite my best efforts to feed him the things I eat (chicken, veggies, etc) he holds out.  He knows I will eventually cave and give him his “nuggies” or Mac and cheese.  I have learned to pick my battles.

This morning he only wanted applesauce for breakfast.  Then around 1030 he kept pulling me over to the pantry.  Now that he knows how to open doors (including the front door.  Yikes!) we had to put covers over the handles.  So I opened it for him and he grabbed a cup of noodles and walked over the microwave and urgently babbled in toddler language.  I can only guess he was asking me to make them for him.  So I did and he ate the whole thing while exclaiming “Mmmmm Good!” every few bites.  Love that boy.

Home Sweet Home: Utah Trip Part 1

We got to go home to Utah a few weeks ago.  It was a busy trip as usual, but we had so much fun!  We went home for BJ and Keisha’s wedding, but also got to bless Kyler, and celebrate Lindy’s Birthday and Independence Day.

I can’t believe that we took so many pictures in such a short visit!  So I had to break this up into 4 posts.  And I still have pictures to post from the wedding!

So here is Utah trip Part One:  Kyler’s Blessing!

Jeremy gave such a wonderful and special blessing to our sweet baby Ky.  Doesn’t he look so handsome in his white outfit and tie?!!

Max on the way to the church looking equally handsome:

I wish we would have taken these family pictures below sooner.  I don’t have shoes on and Max was ornery and was already changed out of his church clothes.  Also, why didn’t someone tell me how chubby I looked in that polka dot dress?!  I’m throwing that away haha. So these are the best we could get given Max’s ornery state…

Utah trip part 2: Pool Fun!

No July trip to Utah is complete without a few trips to the pool!  We went to the Lindon Aquatic Center twice and had so much fun!  It was so wonderful to be outside and not be roasting like we are here in Texas.  The pool wore these boys out!  They fell asleep both times!  The first time Max fell asleep while he was sitting on Lindy’s lap eating a chip.  I had to fish out the chip peaces so he wouldn’t choke on them.  So Aunt Ann made Max a bed using a tube and some towels.  He slept for 2 hours and it felt amazing to be able to just layout and soak up the sun!  Oh how I miss my pool days:-)

The second time we were at the pool Max fell sleep on Jeremy’s chest IN THE WATER!  They were floating on this tube and it put him right to sleep.  How he fell asleep in a packed pool with kids screaming all around him is beyond me.

This picture isn’t from the pool, but I thought it was a cute one of Kyler with my Dad.

Utah Trip Part 3: Happy Independence Day!!!

This is the second year in a row we have been in Utah to celebrate Independence Day and we had a blast.  I think we might need to make this a tradition as long as we are living away from home.  The fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays.  I love the homemade ice cream, fireworks, swimming, and spending time with family.

This year my family left town for the fourth of July, but we had a blast celebrating with the Knudsen’s!  Since the fourth was on a Sunday and we were leaving, we celebrated on Saturday the third.  We started off by going swimming.  Then our crew headed back to the Knudsen’s for a BBQ and fireworks.

This is our attempt to get a picture of Max and his cousins.  It was a challenge to get everyone to hold still and look forward at the same time.  Even with suckers they wouldn’t hold still.  These are the best we got:  IMG_4353-1IMG_4337-1

Max thought the fireworks were pretty awesome.  He kept saying “woa!”  I love his expression in this one!

Utah trip part 4: Playing with Cousins!

Max had so much fun with the dogs at Jeremy’s parents house!!  He even learned to howl like them and it was so funny to listen to.  Here he is mid howl haha:
