Stitches for my baby

This week Kyler got SEVEN stitches under his lip.  Here is the story…

I was just shutting the door after letting my visiting teachers in, when I turned around in time to see Kyler fall.  I didn’t really see exactly what happened because I was behind him, but I’m pretty sure he fell and smacked his chin on the molding on the corner of our staircase.  He bit clear through with both his front teeth!  So I picked him up as he is screaming and blood was just gushing everywhere.  I ran him over to the kitchen sink and grabbed a rag to try to stop the bleeding, but I knew right away that he was going to need stitches.  My visiting teachers were so great!  They immediately left and took Max home with them to play.  I headed to the ER with Kyler, and on the way I called Jeremy.  We got there and within 15 minutes we were seen by the doctor, who told us Kyler needed stitches.  Jeremy came just as they were getting everything ready.  Can I just say, the stitching up was AWFUL.  They strapped him in this little boarded straight jacket type thing.  But he was so sweaty from trying to get out, and so bloody that he was sliding out.  So they had to call in four other nurses to help hold him down.  It was so hard to be in the room watching, while he was bawling for me and I couldn’t do anything for him.  My mommy heart hurt so bad for him.  Afterward, they handed him to me for some loves and he was literally covered in blood.  It was all over his face, all in his curly hair, everywhere!  We went home for some serious snuggles and lots of popsicles and ice cream.  My poor baby! So this was the last week of summer and he couldn’t go to the pool, do swimming of any kind, or eat any of his favorite foods.  Thankfully he gets his stiches out this Wednesday.  He keeps asking me to kiss him on the lips and it is like kissing whiskers!  The stitches are so pokey.  But I still give his cute little lips kisses so they will get better.  Love that boy.

Getting stitches.  Is it a little morbid/messed up that I secretly snapped this picture?  There is a fourth nurse that you can’t see up at the top holding his head.  And the other picture is after we got all the blood cleaned of his face and out of his hair.  We were just waiting to be discharged.  Poor baby.  I snuggled him all day long and gave him lots of kisses.  And popsicles.  Love that boy.

Friends

I have the most darling friends here in Houston and I hardly ever blog about them!  For some reason we always forget to take pictures.  But they are the best and I could not survive here without them.

I leave them alone in the back yard for two seconds

and they almost always end up soaked and/or naked.  This time it was both.  I love having little boys.  They are so wild and messy,  I love it!  Most of the time. I can’t decide if my favorite part of these pictures is the look on Kyler’s face when he realized he got caught, Max’s tan line against his white fanny, or the fact that he is running around in nothing but his white socks on.

The rest of Summer went a little something like this

Lots of playing with friends

We got to see BJ, Keisha and baby Brylee at the airport.  They had a connection here and we were so happy to see them for a few minutes in the baggage claim.

Lots of swimming in the backyard and grabbing McD’s ice cream cones!  The best way to cool off in this Houston heat.

Max and his adorable swim teacher, Miss Deven.  Max totally has a crush on her.  He loves showing off for her and when we get to the car he tells me how pretty she is.

Potty training was a bust.  We tried it one weekend but Kyler wasn’t quite ready.  We will try again in a few weeks once Max goes to preschool.  But Ky looked so stinkin’ cute in those undies I had to post them anyways

After church one Sunday.  They look like they are hugging but they are wrestling.  And then Kyler decided he needed his hat on

Lots and lots of pool time.  Only two pictures to show for it because, you know, I’m trying to keep them alive.

When Max gets out of the bath he combs his hair and with a laugh he tells me “Mom I look like Noah”

Lately, Max is always asking us to take his picture while he pretends to sleep.  Then he laughs as he looks at the pictures.

He couldn’t keep a straight face long enough for me to get a picture in this one.

A new favorite game lately at our house is playing “Back to School”. Basically the boys put on their boots, helmets, hats, back packs, glasses, and anything else they thing they need to wear. They pack their lunches (usually with cheetoes and a drink. You know, the most important part) and then pack their backpacks. And by “pack” I mean they stuff their back packs full of all their favorite trains, transformers and stuffed doggies. Then they head off to school by marching around the house. It’s darling. Although I know Kyler is going to have a hard time in a few weeks when he realizes Max is the only one going to preschool. I’m excited to get one on one time with Kyler and do fun things together.

Change of Plans

The day we were supposed to fly back to Houston went a little something like this…. Max woke me up at 6 am to say he had to go poop.  Next thing I know I am running him to the bathroom so he could sit on the potty and throw up into the garbage can at the same time.  Gross details I know.  But he was seriously so sick and the boys and I were literally supposed to be leaving for the airport in 3 hours.  Not. Happening.  No way was I going to fly by myself with two kids while one of them was so ill.  So we had to change our flight, but the only thing available was the next day.  I was worried that he wouldn’t be better by then, or worse that Kyler or myself would catch whatever he had.  Thankfully only Max got sick.  Poor Max puked his guts out all day long.  It would have been awful but Aunt Lindy came to the rescue!  She took Kyler out for almost the whole day.  They went to Krispy Kremes and I don’t even know where else.  Kyler had a blast and I was able to snuggle my sick boy and take care of him.  She brought Kyler back at nap time, and in her hands she had Costa Vida for me, and Gatorade and fishy crackers for Max.  Sweetest sister ever.  She really saved the day.  My Dad was able to give Max a blessing and by the evening he was completely better.  I seriously have the worst luck when I am traveling alone with kids.  The last time I flew home both boys had double ear infections and Kyler screamed for almost the entire flight.  I bawled my eyes out when we landed.  I can laugh about it now but I mean seriously.  I’m ready for an uneventful flight.

Flying home the next day.  As you can see Max was back to his normal happy self, entertaining himself with the camera on my phone.
