Happy Independence Day!

We were able to go home for a quick trip last week to celebrate both Independence Day and my sister Lindy's birthday. We had tons of fun with both our families swimming, barbequing, and eating great food night after night:) We ate so much of my Dad's yummy homemade ice cream it was ridiculous! As we celebrated I couldn't help but think of how incredibly blessed I am. I am so thankful to live here in America, for all the freedom's we enjoy, and for all the people who fought for that freedom. Happy Independence Day to you all! Visit from Grandma Knudsen

Jeremy’s mom came out for a visit a few weeks ago.  We had such a fun time with her and she was even nice enough to let us get away on the weekend for our anniversary. Thanks again for coming to visit! We had a great time at the pool as you can see…

A big week for bugaboo

DSC01406

1. He got his first teeth.  His bottom two front teeth both came in last week.  I love when he gives us his cheeser smile and you can see them!  So cute!

2. He learned how to wave on purpose.

3. He started sleeping on his tummy: DSC01418

4. He learned how to eat these:

Gerber Graduates Finger Foods Sweet Potato Puffs

5. He learned how to do this:

Bright Starts™ Drop & Giggle™

Yes It’s true… my baby is growing up.  It is so much fun as he learns to do things for himself.  But 5 new things in one week made me a little sad.

Happy five years!

This weekend Jeremy and I celebrated our fifth anniversary and Jeremy’s first father’s day.  Here are some pics from our wedding day…

I love the last one because it is so random… Me gulping down a dp before the reception started, and Jeremy with this very concerned look on his face.  Happy Anniversary babe!  I love you and I fall deeper every day:)

I also want to wish my hubby a late Happy Father’s Day.  Jeremy is such a wonderful daddy.  I love how excited Max is to see him after work because they just play and laugh and play some more.  He is such a hands on Daddy I love it!  He works so hard to provide for our family and we love him.

I gotta have more cowbell… Or is it train whistle?

Last weekend we were able to get away for our anniversary to the small town of Wimberly.  It was a total shot in the dark because we had never heard of it and everyone we asked had never heard of it.  Wimberly is a little bed and breakfast type town with antique shops and restaurants.  We had so much fun!  I am pretty sure it was one of the most relaxing getaways I have ever had.  We stayed in a cabin that was out in the middle of nowhere in the “mountains” (mountains if you are Texan, hills if you are from Utah:)DSC01452

One of the nights we went out to dinner at a place called Inoz’s.  It was this quaint outdoor patio restaurant  that was so much fun!

When we first got seated a band called Uncle Fud started playing.  I cannot even explain how funny they were or how hard we <quietly> laughed.  Maybe this will help explain:

They were actually pretty good and very entertaining.  The drummer had mad skills and no song was complete without a cowbell, train whistle, or a “ya mon” spoken in a deep raspy chain smoker voice.  But we can’t leave out the lead singer.  He was the bees knees and had all sorts of moves.  I am pretty sure the guy on the left never moved or changed his expression the entire time.  Basically it made for a really funny evening.  But seriously, they were actually good and I don’t think they take themselves too seriously either.

I came home from mutual to find this….

What we’ve been up to…

My mom came to visit for a week and we had so much fun!  Max really liked playing with her and we had a great time going shopping, out to eat, and to the pool.  Thanks Mom!

We took my mom to our pool yesterday.  Max LOVED splashing and kicking his feet!  He was even nice enough to nap in his stroller so mommy could lay out.  Such a good boy!

My baby is eight months today…

I know anyone that reads my blog is not surprised by my “I can’t believe my baby is _ months old” post… but I really can’t believe it!  When people ask me if I have any kids I reply that I just had a baby.  It occurred to me today that I no longer “just had a baby”.  Too bad I can’t use that excuse for the weight I am still trying to get off <sigh>.

I am so happy and loving every day I get to be home and play with my little munchkin. Doesn’t he look so ridiculously good looking in his church clothes?.. comb over and all:)   DSC01382DSC01378

Here are some things Max is up to…

*another ear infection.  Ugh!  My little guy has been on 3 different antibiotics over the last 6 weeks because of them.  His pediatrician says if he gets one more we will go the the ENT dr. to discuss tubes.  Max really is still the happiest little boy (most of the time) even with all the ear infections.

*He learned how to clap!  A couple of days ago we played a game where I lay him flat on the floor and he immediately tries to sit up.  Once he finally does I say “Yay, you did it” and he claps with me and smiles.  Hopefully he will continue doing it.  He has a habit of learning new tricks and then forgetting them.

*Max loves playing Peek-a-boo, patty cake, and really any game.

*If I sit in front of him he tries to crawl into my lap.  He also can stand holding on to the couch.

*He reaches for people when he is being held.  I love when he reaches for me!

*He weighs 20 lbs and is in size 4 diapers.  What a chunker.

*My favorite thing he does right now is to Meow.  Well, he sort of meows.  He is very interested in our cat so whenever the cat comes in I tell him “the kitty says meow” and he mimics me with this short high pitched sound that is pretty close.  Then we “meow” back and forth.  Exciting I know:)  but it really is so cute!

*He can drink using a straw, sippy cup and water bottle.  He loves cold water and would drink it all day if I let him.

*He FINALLY takes good naps that are 1 to 2 1/2 hrs.
