Has This Ever Happened To You?

Last night Jeremy was in the kitchen making bacon for our breakfast dinner when I decided I needed to refill my fridge with diet Dr. Pepper.  I got out the 12 pack and tried to open on the “easy” rip lines which never opens for me like it is supposed to.  Well I ripped it open and 5 cans fell to the floor before I could catch them. FIVE! Do I have slow reflexes or what?  They all started spinning and spraying EVERYWHERE!  All we could do was hit the deck and take cover till it stopped!  Jeremy, in his attempt to dive and catch two of them, may have sprained his ankle.  We had pop everywhere.  We were both drenched.  It got on the walls, ceiling, floor, stairs, carpet, banister, Max, Max’s high chair, fridge, oven, dishwasher, …. I think you get the point.  At least it didn’t make it on my newly made curtains or I think I would have cried.  It took us forever to clean everything, but we laughed pretty hard.

On the Move... FINALLY!

Max is finally crawling! It happened last Sunday. Max and I had just got home from our trip to California on Sunday night. Jeremy put him down and Max decided to crawl for us! I guess he just wanted to wait till we were back home with Daddy. It’s been a week and he is crawling pretty fast now. Here is the video from last Sunday night…..

Also, here is a video of Max laughing a few months ago. I keep forgetting to put it on.

Wilson Family Reunion- Oceanside

Max and I were able to go to Oceanside, California with my Mom for my Grandpa’s 80th Birthday party Celebration.  It was a lot of fun catching up with that side of the family.  Many of them I had not seen in years.  Max and I loved the beautiful weather.  It was so much cooler than Houston and the evenings were even a little chilly.  It was so nice! Max LOVED both the sand and the ocean.  I wish I had taken the time to take more pictures!  IMG_8767

At the end of the pier there is a place called Ruby’s that we have loved eating at over the years.  Max got his first taste of it while we were there.  As you can see by the different outfits he is in, we went to Ruby’s a lot!

Attempting domestication

Well I have been busy with many projects for the month of July…

1. I made my own curtains for the kitchen!  Note to anyone who sews: If you come to my house please don’t look at them too closely as there are sure to be many flaws. The last time I have sewn was in junior high TLC and let’s just say it was harder than I thought it would be.  Thankfully Jeremy’s mom was in town to help me start them.  I love how they turned out!

2. Homemade baby food

DSC01554

The thought of making my own baby food has always sounded like such a daunting task… which is probably why I didn’t start till my baby was 9 months.  But I decided to give it a go and I love it!  It is so easy and I haven’t bought baby food in a month. It has saved me a bundle and more importantly Max LOVES it! Yes, that is spinach all over his face.  I had dropped some on his chair and in the 1/2 second it took me to grab a rag he managed to wipe it all over his face.  Yummy!

DSC01559

His favorites seem to be spinach, peaches, baked squash with a bit of cinnamon, corn chowder, and every fruit combo I have tried.  Thanks Kendall for inspiring me to make it:)

3. Jewelry!  My friend Shanta was nice enough to teach me how and it was so fun to learn.  Thanks Shanta!

4. Cake Decorating!  Ok, so my cake struggles.  But I learned how and now I have no desire to do it again:)  Very time consuming.  BTW- It’s a dinosaur on top in case you can’t tell.  It’s a little sparse in parts because Max got impatient with me.

5. I made my own Jewelry organizer!  You can learn to make one here.  I found the video on line while I was searching for an answer to my pile of tangled up jewelry.  It looks sparse right now because I need to figure out a way to hang my necklaces too.  Any ideas?  Hooks are the only thing I can think of…  So it’s a work in progress.

Ok, ok, am I domestic yet?

10 months?

DSC01588My baby is ten months old.  Are you sick of reading “my baby is __ months” posts yet?  Anybody?  Oh ya… I don’t think anyone really reads this blog haha.

Here’s what Max is up to:

Dancing.  Anytime a song or catchy commercial comes on he dances.  I was at HEB and “The Love Shack” came on…he started dancing and laughing.  All the people around us were laughing too!

Oh how I love his kisses.  He will give one to Jeremy and then turn to give me one.  He also has a little blue bear that he automatically gives kisses to anytime I give it to him.  Such a sweet boy!DSC01573DSC01578

Enjoying new foods: yogurt, baked squash with a touch of cinnamon, mashed potatoes, baby cheetos, and drinking anything from his sippy cup.

He pulls himself up to stand in the crib.  It is really annoying because then he wont lay back down.  I end up going upstairs to lay him back down like 5 times before he falls asleep.  And every time I walk in to find him standing he has a proud look on his face.

little crawls.  I think we are close to him finally crawling.  Maybe.

Max is getting two teeth right now.  That makes 4 teeth total.  I can also see 2 more that look close to breaking the surface.DSC01546

Holds his bottle by himself.DSC01600

He calls “Da da”  when he is happy.

He calls (urgently)“Mom.  Mom.  Mom.”  when he is hungry, hurt, or needs a diaper change:)

DSC01544   DSC01553

He still loves clapping and waving.

Such a handsome boy!
